Brunei

The Sultanate of Brunei's influence peaked between the 15th and 17th centuries when its control extended over coastal areas of northwest Borneo and the southern Philippines. Brunei subsequently entered a period of decline brought on by internal strife over royal succession, colonial expansion of European powers, and piracy. In 1888, Brunei became a British protectorate; independence was achieved in 1984. The same family has ruled Brunei for over six centuries. Brunei benefits from extensive petroleum and natural gas fields, the source of one of the highest per capita GDPs in Asia. (CIA)

1. University students of Brunei mostly study abroad. They can play a pivotal role to be a channel for student evangelization in Brunei.

2. It is urgent to raise mature Christian leaders and Bible teachers in Brunei.

1. Pray for the Malay and other people groups in Brunei to be set free from the bondage of false religious systems. Pray for their hearts to be soft, fertile ground for the Gospel to take root and bear fruit.

2. Pray for an immediate end to all acts of Christian persecution.

3. Evangelism is never allowed among Muslims. Let us pray for the emergence of ministers who can minister with the wisdom of the Holy Spirit for these people.
